BIOGRAPHY

of the Human Condition was formed in early 1998 by Andy and Stubbs under the name Burnt by Desire. We struggled to find members, so set about doing as much as possible ourselves. Stubbs became the main music writer and began playing guitar. With bass, keyboard and drum parts played through a computer and Andy on vocals we could begin rehearsing and developing the songs. As we grew our sound changed and in early 2001 we changed our name to reflect this. We felt the name ...of the Human Condition was more appropriate for our current sound incorporating musical elements from all styles of metal, as well as classical, gothic and industrial. Needing a female vocalist we approached Mel (ex-Embryonic Soul, voted best female vocalist 1999-2000 Powersurvey (Powersurge, 3D radio)). She agreed to join the band and her unique vocal talent provided the music with an extra dynamic level. We also recruited Rocco (omnium gatherum) to play guitar... ..We recorded our debut demo, `repetition is inevitable', in January 2002 with the aid of a grant from Carclew Youth Arts Centre. It received consistent airplay on Powersurge, reaching number four on the Powersuge top ten and number 12 on 3d radio's top 20+1. In late 2002 we recruited two new members: Aaron (Deporsiah) on guitar and Johno (omnium gatherum) on drums. This gave us enough members to begin performing live shows. A two song promo CD featuring the new line-up and a previously unrecorded song, "Silence Sweeps", was recorded in February 2003. Between 2003-2004 the line-up changed once again, where we saw the departure of Aaron, Rocco and Johnno, and welcomed Matt on keys, Wayne and Tim on Guitars and Frog on Drums. We are currently finishing our first album and hope to play some more gigs to promote it within the next few months. Frog plays drums for Chalice Mel and Matt are also members of Art In Exile.
