LIV MOON dibentuk di Tokyo, Jepang pada tahun 2009 dengan "Phantom The Opera The" tunggal sebagai band fronted perempuan. LOUD PARK 09 adalah Perfomance pertama mereka dan mereka merilis sebuah album " MOON DOUBLE ", pada tahun yang sama.

Nama Liv Moon itu sendiri di ambil dari nama belakang Vokalisnya Akane LIV, Liv Moon adalah project dari Akane, Akane mulai perjalanannya sebagai salah satu pemain grup musik dari sekolah musik Takarazuka dimana dia ikut berpartisipasi dalam berbagai acara. Dia mengambil cuti singkat dari kelompok untuk melakukan perjalanan ke Inggris untuk belajar bernyanyi. Dalam Festival Beckenham, dia berhasil memenangkan category sebagai penyanyi terbaik tahunan dalam festival tersebut dan mulai mendapat banyak perhatian dunia. Setelah kembali dari Inggris, ia lulus dari sekolah musik Takarazuka dan bertemu produser Tatsuya Nishiwaki dan kemudian membentuk band LIV MOON yang mengusung genre Gothic modern.

Pada bulan Juni 2010 mereka merilis lagu Scream As A Woman dan diikuti dengan Golden Moon pada 16 Maret 2011

Mereka berkarya dibawah bendera Victor Entertainment.
